Water behind a wall is the most common hidden leak we find. Here's how we detect it without opening the drywall.

Signs of a wall leak

Damp or bubbling drywall, peeling paint or wallpaper, musty smell from a specific area, water stain on ceiling below the wall, higher water bill without other explanation, sound of running water when all fixtures off.

Detection methods for wall leaks

Thermal imaging: we scan the wall surface. Water inside the wall changes the surface temperature. Hot water = warm spot. Cold water = cool spot. Acoustic: we listen for water escaping. Tracer gas: injected into the pipe and detected as it escapes through the leak into the wall cavity.

How to prepare

Don't open the wall. If your plumber is suggesting cutting multiple holes, call us first. Note when the water appears (only when certain fixtures are on). Keep the water running that causes the leak — helps our detection.
